What is cupping?

Cupping is the application of a suction cup with the use of fire or a pump and applied to the skin to bring about a therapeutic result.

What are the benefits of cupping?

Cupping is normally used with other therapies like acupuncture and/or massage. Cupping can be used to help with various musculo-skeletal pain, respiratory condition, and digestive complaints to name but a few.

Why the marks?

The marks are caused through sucking the blood to the surface of the skin causing a “bruised” look. Some people may look at the marks thinking that those are bruises when in fact an ecchymosis has occurred. To call a cupping mark a bruise is incorrect as no trauma has happened.
